On May 7, 2016, the organization department of Huangpu District Committee, District Branch Industry and Commerce Bureau, Guangzhou Development Zone Organization Personnel Bureau, Science and Technology Bureau, Huangpu District Youth League Committee, Huangpu District Youth Social Organization Federation promoted, Huangpu District Overseas Chinese Returnees Associationwas formally established at Xiangxue International Apartment. 104 member representatives attended the meeting and elected the first board of directors, members of the board of supervisors.

Huang Wei, member of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee and Minister of Organization Department, shared at the meeting that he hoped that the newly appointed members of the Board of Directors and the Board of Supervisors would be the first step of the Long March. The returnees were the protagonists of the era and the protagonists of the Guangzhou Development Zone and Huangpu District. The district committee and district government will provide various services for the returnees and promote the healthy development of the association.
