Why do you need a UPS device?

2019-08-08

An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is primarily used to provide backup power to the computer and other devices plugged into it.

In addition to being a backup power source during a power outage, most UPS devices can also act as a power “regulator” by ensuring that current flowing to your computer and accessories is protected from drops or surges. If the computer does not get a consistent current, it can happen and damage such as database corruption often occurs.

Although the UPS system does not need to complete the computer system, it is always recommended to include one of them as part of you. The need for reliable power supplies is often overlooked.
Once you have decided to add the UPS to your computer system, you should take steps to ensure that no data is lost the next time you encounter a thunderstorm.

Connect the data cable and install the UPS software. This is a crucial step. If you install the UPS but do not complete the setup, the UPS will provide limited protection - it will start up in the event of a power outage, but if the power supply does not recover immediately, the battery in the final UPS will run out and the PC will lose power anyway. The data cable and software allow your UPS to tell your PC to shut down gracefully.

Configuration software. This is not a difficult step, but it is important because it allows you to specify how long the battery backup should run before it shuts down.

Test your battery occasionally. Every few months, you should start the UPS software and perform a self-test. This will give you an idea of the health of your battery and determine if you need to replace it. For example, if the battery capacity is too low to carry your computer in one minute, the power failure is not good, and you will lose data anyway.
